Sarvenaz Tate, Psy.D.

Sarvenaz Tate, Psy.D., is a recent graduate of the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant University, where she earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Tate completed her pre-doctoral internship at a community mental health clinic specializing in services for children and adolescents with severe mental health concerns. Throughout her training, she has worked across a variety of clinical settings, including psychological assessment clinics, forensic treatment programs, and college counseling environments supporting transitional-age youth. These experiences have provided her with a broad understanding of the unique developmental, emotional, and relational challenges individuals face across the lifespan.

Dr. Tate has extensive training in psychological assessment and enjoys helping families gain a clearer understanding of their child's strengths, challenges, and needs. She has experience conducting comprehensive evaluations for ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, learning difficulties, diagnostic clarification, and emotional and behavioral concerns. In therapy, Dr. Tate takes an integrative and relationship-centered approach, drawing from emotion-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based interventions, and interpersonal neurobiology. She believes meaningful healing occurs within safe authentic relationships and strives to create a space where children, adolescents, and families feel understood and empowered to grow.

As a Middle Eastern psychologist, Dr. Tate values culturally responsive care and offers bilingual therapy in English and Farsi. She is especially passionate about supporting immigrant and second-generation families as they navigate cultural identity, family relationships, and intergenerational patterns. Dr. Tate has particular interests in trauma treatment, creative and expressive therapies, sleep and dream work, and helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotional experiences. She is also fascinated by the myths and traditions found across cultures, recognizing the ways communities have passed down wisdom about human nature and healing across generations. Her clinical work emphasizes compassion, with the goal of helping clients build resilience while strengthening their connection to themselves and others.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Tate enjoys tabletop games, science experiments, arts and crafts, comedy, and gardening. She believes emotional healing is a lot like gardening: we cannot force a seed to grow, but we can nurture the conditions which allow it to flourish.

Dr. Tate is registered with the state of California as a Psychological Associate (PSB#94029664) and is under the supervision of Mark Barnes, PhD (PSY14397).
